REBECCA SANON BUSTED STEALING $44K FROM ORGANIZATION FUNDS!

Welcome to Arrest Stories. A fifty-one-year-old former parent-teacher organization treasurer stands accused of systematically draining over forty-four thousand dollars from a Coral Springs charter school through nearly two hundred fraudulent transactions spanning three years. Here's what may have happened.

Rebecca Sanon, who served as treasurer for the parent-teacher organization at Imagine Charter School, allegedly orchestrated an elaborate scheme that authorities say robbed the school community of funds meant to support students and educational programs. According to official reports, the financial misconduct occurred between twenty twenty-one and twenty twenty-four, involving a staggering one hundred eighty-three unauthorized transactions.

The alleged theft came to light in July twenty twenty-four when PTO board members discovered a major shortfall in the organization's Wells Fargo account. What they found painted a troubling picture of systematic financial abuse. Investigators determined that Sanon had withdrawn over thirty-nine thousand dollars from ATMs, nearly four thousand five hundred dollars from bank branches, and spent over three thousand two hundred dollars using the organization's debit card for personal purchases.

The fraudulent transactions allegedly included purchases at Walmart, Publix, Sam's Club, Uber rides, and various restaurants. Perhaps most brazen was a payment that went directly from the PTO account to Sanon's electric bill at her Tamarac apartment.

When detectives interviewed Sanon in January twenty twenty-four at her Tamarac home, she reportedly made damaging admissions. She admitted to using the funds for an Uber ride, saying she had no money or ride after being involved in a car crash. More significantly, she acknowledged withdrawing funds because she was having a difficult time and said she used the money to avoid being evicted.

School community members expressed outrage, with one official stating they were irate because the stolen money was meant to support the school community. Another called the situation very, very sad.

Sanon now faces charges in Coral Springs for the alleged embezzlement scheme that authorities say betrayed the trust of parents, students, and educators who counted on those funds.

All suspects presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Do not take this report as factual, always verify facts. Thanks for watching Arrest Stories.
