Welcome to Arrest Stories. A twenty five year old Phoenix man has been arrested after allegedly posing as a doctor to sexually assault a ten year old girl at an elementary school. Here's what may have happened.
On Wednesday, November nineteenth, around twelve twenty in the afternoon, administrators at Orangewood Elementary School in Phoenix called nine one one to report an unauthorized male on campus. The school was immediately placed on lockdown from twelve twenty to one forty five in the afternoon.
According to Phoenix Police, twenty five year old Abel Kai Gblah had gained access to the school by following behind a student who was buzzed in through the main entrance. Police say Gblah was on campus for approximately ten minutes.
During that time, authorities allege Gblah encountered a ten year old girl who was going to the nurse's office. Police report that Gblah told the child he was a doctor and that she needed to go with him into an empty classroom because he had to perform tests on her.
Once inside the classroom, investigators say Gblah pulled down the girl's pants and sexually assaulted her. When the victim told him to stop and pushed him away, Gblah allegedly fled the school.
Phoenix Police Sergeant Rob Scherer stated, "Within the very first hour of this investigation, the officer's response led them to the front door of, ultimately, the suspect, twenty five year old Abel Gblah." Police were able to match the suspect's clothing down to a torn patch in the knee of his jeans from surveillance video.
Gblah was located at his home where he was taken into custody. According to police, Gblah denied being at the school or knowing the victim.
Sergeant Scherer commented on the nature of the crime, saying, "I don't think this was just a crime of opportunity. This is one of those preplanned events and he decided, 'This is what I'm going to do. This is how I'm going to do it. This is what I'm going to do to get done what he wanted to get done.'"
Gblah has been charged with sexual assault and kidnapping and is being held on a five hundred thousand dollar cash only bond.
All suspects presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Do not take this report as factual, always verify facts. Thanks for watching Arrest Stories.
