Caleb Daniel Bourgeois was taken into custody Wednesday night following the execution of a detailed search warrant by Jackson County Sheriff's Department deputies. The arrest stems from allegations that Bourgeois placed a hidden camera inside a camper at last year's Jackson County Junior Fair.
According to police reports, Bourgeois allegedly filmed unsuspecting children changing clothes inside the camper during the fair. Investigators say he then used those images of local children to generate artificial intelligence videos depicting the children performing sexual acts.
The discovery was made when deputies were called to Bourgeois' home for a domestic disturbance. During their investigation, authorities uncovered the alleged scheme involving the hidden camera footage and AI-generated content.
Bourgeois served as an active member of the Jackson County Junior Fair Board at the time of the alleged incidents. Officials described the case as particularly disturbing due to the innocent circumstances under which the images were obtained.
"This is the perfect storm where a devious mind meets modern technology. You look at all the good things in the world AI can contribute to, but here we are dealing with this kind of crap," stated one official familiar with the investigation.
Authorities report they have received multiple calls from concerned parents of potential victims since news of the arrest became public. Investigators are now working to match interviews and statements with images to identify possible victims.
"The thing that is most disturbing is most of these types of incidents, the victim is in a bad situation to begin with and they are getting groomed. But the acquisition of these images were taken in such an innocent manner," officials noted.
Bourgeois is being held without bond on the multiple charges of sexual exploitation of a minor.
