Welcome to Arrest Stories. Fifty-one-year-old Kim Scott, ex-wife of rapper Eminem, faces charges for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and failure to stop after causing property damage in Michigan. Here's what may have happened.
On a Monday evening around eight PM, Scott left her home in a white Range Rover with her son Parker and three of his teenage friends to go shopping. According to witness accounts, Scott struck a parked car on her street but did not stop at the scene. She continued driving and attempted to pull into her driveway, where neighbors reported she crashed her Range Rover directly into her own garage door.
A neighbor who witnessed the sequence of events contacted police. When officers arrived, Scott initially told them she hadn't been drinking that night. However, when confronted about driving into the garage door, she admitted she had consumed alcohol approximately two hours earlier.
Police administered a preliminary breath test, which Scott clearly did not pass. Sources described her as looking totally out of it during the testing process. Scott was subsequently charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated and failure to stop or identify after causing property damage.
Scott was later arraigned at St. Clair Shores District Court, with her police mugshot obtained from the St. Clair Shores Police Department. This incident adds to Scott's previous legal troubles, as she had previously violated probation on drug charges in February two thousand four. During that earlier case, she appeared before Judge Ed Servito and was sentenced to thirty days in jail and ninety days in a drug rehab program after testing positive for cocaine.
Scott's legal team has indicated that if charges are formally filed, she would voluntarily surrender to authorities. Her attorney described the incident as unfortunate and called Scott a good person and beautiful human being, stating she is really, truly, deeply sorry for what occurred.
