DELAWARE COUNCILMANS ARREST TRACED TO ONE COLOGNE-SOAKED PACKAGE

Welcome to Arrest Stories. Delaware City Councilman Cory Hoffman faces his second stalking arrest in six weeks after allegedly leaving a cologne-soaked package on a woman's porch during Christmas. Here's what may have happened.

On January second, forty-year-old Cory Hoffman was arrested in Delaware, Ohio on charges of telecommunications harassment and menacing by stalking. Powell Police Officer Kaylyn Heading filed a probable cause affidavit detailing the allegations against the city councilman. Hoffman pleaded not guilty to the charges and had his bond set at seven thousand five hundred dollars.

According to police reports, this marked Hoffman's second arrest in six weeks on similar charges. After his first arrest, Hoffman was released on bond and attended December's city council meeting. However, the alleged stalking behavior continued.

On December twentieth, the victim received text messages from Hoffman through what appears to be intermediaries. The first message included a picture of a drink in a bar. The second message was reportedly from one of Hoffman's friends and included a photo of Hoffman sitting at a bar wearing a Santa hat. The message read "A handsome gentleman in a Santa hat gave us a good tip and said to say you broke his heart and ruined his life, but he loved you and you like a good mimosa."

Between December twenty fourth and twenty fifth, the victim discovered a package on her front porch that was drenched in cologne that Hoffman reportedly wears. The package, wrapped in pink duct tape, contained letters and presents for the victim's children. The woman's security camera did not capture who dropped off the package.

Police stated the incidents "disrupted her sense of security in her own home." Following his second arrest, Hoffman announced his resignation from the Delaware City Council. City officials released a statement saying "Council Member Hoffman devoted more than six years of service to the City of Delaware and to the residents of the Third Ward. We thank him for his time and commitment to public service."

All suspects presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Do not take this report as factual, always verify facts. Thanks for watching Arrest Stories.
