Welcome to Arrest Stories. A twenty-three-year-old daycare teacher in St. Charles, Illinois faces criminal charges after allegedly giving chewable laxatives to toddlers while telling them it was candy. Here's what may have happened.
On February third, twenty twenty-six, at approximately nine forty-three in the morning, multiple parents contacted the St. Charles Police Department with disturbing reports. Their children, all attending a daycare facility in the twenty-four hundred block of West Main Street, had allegedly been given chewable laxatives by one of their teachers.
Police launched an investigation and confirmed the incidents had occurred. Authorities identified three juvenile victims, each two years of age or younger. The suspect was identified as Yizel J. Juarez, a teacher at The Learning Experience daycare who had studied early childhood education at Northern Illinois University.
According to police reports, Juarez administered chewable laxatives to the toddlers while telling them the medication was candy. One parent reported their child had been sent home from daycare for diarrhea at least three times over the past two months. The parent stated, "We thought it could have been a virus, and that was negative, but he was not diagnosed with any stomach bug or anything either."
Another parent expressed frustration about the ongoing effects, saying, "My child is still suffering from constipation, which the doctor said was going to be a side effect of the laxatives, of coming off the laxatives. Who knows what the long-term effects could be on this?"
The daycare director terminated Juarez's employment after discovering the alleged incidents. One parent reported learning from the director that "she had fired her employee because she allegedly was giving them these laxatives and saying that it was candy so that they could get sent home because she was overwhelmed." The parent added, "It's disgusting. Get another job then."
On February third, Juarez surrendered to the St. Charles Police Department and was arrested. She faces three misdemeanor counts of endangering the life or health of a child.
All suspects presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Do not take this report as factual, always verify facts. Thanks for watching Arrest Stories.
