Welcome to Arrest Stories. A nineteen-year-old man faces multiple burglary charges after allegedly breaking into homes near Conway, South Carolina and vandalizing them with food from the victims' refrigerators. Here's what may have happened.
On January fourteenth, officers with the Conway Police Department responded to a breaking and entering call on Quail Run Road. According to the police report, Alec William Arinello had entered a home while the residents were sleeping. The victim's girlfriend woke up to find Arinello standing in their bedroom.
After being discovered, Arinello left the bedroom and made his way to the living room where he went through the victim's refrigerator. Police say Arinello removed various food items including queso, eggs, and salsa from the fridge. What happened next has drawn widespread attention across social media platforms.
Arinello allegedly poured queso on the television and furniture throughout the home. He then smashed eggs on the floor and flipped furniture over, causing significant damage to the residence. The couple locked themselves in their bedroom and waited for Arinello to leave the premises.
When officers arrived at the scene, they attempted to arrest Arinello, but he ran from police. This incident was not isolated, as investigators say Arinello broke into multiple homes in the Conway area near the Coastal Carolina University campus. In these additional break-ins, police report that Arinello left behind similar evidence including gobs of queso and syrup smeared throughout the residences.
The unusual nature of the alleged crimes has earned Arinello the nickname "Queso Man" in news reports and social media discussions. Arinello now faces three counts of first-degree burglary in connection with these incidents. He is currently being held without bond as the case moves through the court system.
The Conway Police Department continues investigating the string of break-ins that occurred in the area.
